Sacrament of Holy Orders
Holy Orders
The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the continuation of Christ's priesthood, entrusted to the Apostles and passed down through the generations.
It is thus through the Sacrament of Holy Orders that priests are trained and ordained for the service of the Church.
FAQs
Holy Trinity Buruburu currently has seven priests ordained from the parish.
If you wish to request a baptismal certificate, please contact our parish office for guidance.
There are three distinct ranks or “orders” within the sacrament:
- Episcopate (Bishops): Possess the fullness of the sacrament and are successors to the Apostles.
- Presbyterate (Priests): Co-workers with the bishops who celebrate Mass and administer most sacraments.
- Diaconate (Deacons): Ordained for service; they assist at the altar, baptize, and lead charitable works.
Discernment is a gradual process of prayer and listening. Common signs include a persistent desire to serve others, a deep love for the Eucharist, and a growing liking of the priestly life. The Church is always involved in this process, as it is the Bishop who ultimately confirms a call.
Do you think the Lord is calling you to the Priesthood?
You can explore the calling with an initial conversation with the parish priests.
