Our Jumuiyas
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” — Matthew 18:20
At Holy Trinity Buruburu One Catholic Church believe that while we worship as a large family, we grow in smaller units, such as Small Christian Communities (Jumuiyas). We currently have 32 Jumuiyas spread across several estates as listed below.
Buruburu Phase 1 Estate is not only home to our parish but also home to eight of our Small Christian communities:
(1) Holy Family: Cedar, Cypress, Cassia, Avocado and Bamboo courts.
(2) Mary Consolata SOS: Courts along Mumias Road.
(3) St Ann: Courts Around Olmusalala Road and courts within SOS.
(4) St Antony of Padua: Mugumua and Muhungu Courts.
(5) St Augustine: Musiwe, Mvule, Kibuti, Nazingu, Mutasi and Mugumo Courts.
(6) St Monica: Makumari, Mukuyu and Mpera Courts.
(7) St Francis of Assisi: Casuarina, Munderendu Courts.
(8) St James: Mkenya, Mkondo, Mukumuti and Musaisi Courts.
Buruburu Phase 2 Estate is home to four of our Small Christian Communities, namely:
- St Stephen: Behind Mesora Shopping Centre (City Council Flats Number 211-214).
- St Rita: Behind Mesora and Police Line (Buru City Council Houses).
- St Veronica: Batian, Chemkoroi, Kibaoni, Kapsiliat and Kalimapus Courts.
- St Martin de Porres: Crescent Court between St James ACK and Buru Shopping Centre.
Buruburu Phase 5 Extension is home to three of our Small Christian Communities, namely:
- Mary Mother of God: Mzambarau and Acacia Courts.
- Mary Queen of Peace: Muringa, Wang’ombe Waihura and School Courts.
- Our Lady of Fatima: Centre and Palm Courts.
Pioneer Phase 1 and Phase Estates are home to three of our Small Christian Communities, namely:
- St Paul: Residents of Pioneer Phase 1.
- St Peter: Residents in Pioneer Phase 1B.
- St Charles Lwanga: Residents in Pioneer Phase 2.
Outering Estate is home to two of our Small Christian Communities, namely:
- St Joseph: Areas A, B and D.
- Christ the King: Areas B, C and D.
Harambee and Uhuru/Rabai estates are home to four of our jumuiyas, namely:
- St Bridgit: Residents of Harambee Estate.
- St Teresa: Residents of Uhuru Phase 1 and Phase 2.
- St Jude: Residents of Rabai Estate and Uhuru Estate Phase 1 to Phase 4 (around Kismenti and Jamaa Hospital Areas).
- St Joakim and Anne: Residents of Rabai Estate and Uhuru Phase 1 to Phase 4 (around Kismenti and Jamaa Hospital Areas).
Harambee and Uhuru/Rabai estates are home to four of our jumuiyas, namely:
- St John: Residents living near the chief’s office, stretching towards Kiambiu Main Road.
- St Michael: Residents living near the chief’s office.
For those residing outside the boundaries of our various Small Christian Communities or wish to join a jumuiya that meets at the parish instead of each other’s homes, six of our jumuiyas meet at the church, namely:
- St Joseph Mukasa: Meets at the Church after the 10.00am mass.
- St Padre Pio: Meets at the Church after the 12.00 noon mass.
- St Kizito: Meets at the Church after 7.00am mass.
- St Bakhita: Meets at the Church after the 8.30am mass.
- St Cajetan: Meets at the Church Classrooms.
- St Nathaniel: Meets at the Church Classrooms.
